6/8 Driver Training Program for Teenagers
The 6/8 program is an alternative driver education program This program consists of the mandatory 8 hour safety course along with 6 hours of on the road training. Students will be taught the skills necessary to become a safe and confident driver. Students will be made aware of sign and road markings to have a better understanding of how to safely operate a motor vehicle. Also covered during these lessons will be lane positioning, traffic controls, rotaries, turning, and parking. All lessons will start and end at our location. The cost is $725.00
Teenagers: 16-17 year old Students who do not take the full Driver’s Education Program must take an 8-hour Safe Driving Course including a 2hour parent training session online. Online Classroom instruction will begin once students are registered and are 16 years of age. This 8hour course consist of rules and regulations, road signs and markings, vehicle control, IPDE, and alcohol and drugs. Parent must complete the 2hour parent/student class with their son/daughter. This course is also on Google Classroom, and consists of some reading, and a few videos that you can watch on your own time. Personal g-mail account is preferred.
For all student 16-21 years old: When all DMV and Tom’s requirements have been fulfilled, Off-Site testing for your Connecticut driver’s license is available at Tom’s. The DMV administers the road exam, using Tom’s vehicle. Pre-registration is required.
